About UK refugees and asylum seekers: FAQs

Most misunderstandings about asylum seekers and refugees are a result of misinformation and scaremongering in the tabloid press. When a newspaper headline says we are being ‘swamped’ by them, or they are living in luxury hotels at the taxpayers expense, or are the cause of long waiting times in the NHS, there is no easy way of correcting the statement.
