‘Annual inspection of ‘Adults at risk in immigration detention’ - ICIBI
The Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) has published an inspection report on the treatment and safeguarding of ‘at risk’ adults held in UK immigration detention. The report reveals many concerning findings about the treatment of vulnerable people in immigration removal centres (IRCs), concluding that the processes for identifying and safeguarding these individuals are ‘ineffective’, with improvement proceeding ‘at a glacial pace’. You can read the full report here.
Immediately following the publication of the report, the Home Secretary discontinued the standing commission for this annual review.
