If you are not in a position to practically help asylum seekers and refugees, you can pray for them. If you are practically involved, your work will bear much more fruit if you soak it in prayer. Many people can testify of miracles involving asylum cases, conversions and healings that have been the results of persevering prayer.

Remember that God is more concerned with the welfare of refugees than you are, so you can be pretty sure that you are praying in line with his will! The parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18 should encourage us:

‘Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly!”’ (New Living Translation)
